Drug, Property and Complex Crimes

The Community Prosecution Division charges Drug, Property and Complex Crime offenses.  Drug crimes include selling or using illegal drugs.  Property crimes range from damage to someone else's property to stealing someone's property.  Complex Crimes concentrate on white collar prosecutions like mortgage fraud, identity theft or crimes against vulnerable adults, including senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

The Community Prosecution team of attorneys and staff members also prosecute those who violate the Nuisance Law and work with Court Watch groups to monitor chronic offenders of various livability issues such as drug crimes.  One of the most important aspects of Community Prosecution is the voice from the community in the form of Community Impact Statements, which are presented to the court .  The objective of the statement is to detail  how specific crimes affect the overall quality of life of a community.  The statements are presented in court and have been critical in helping prosecutors secure better dispositions.
