Al. J. Smith

Hennepin County Attorney 1905-1910

Orphaned as a child in New York, AL J.SMITH  moved to Minnesota in 1872 and later studied law at the University of Minnesota. 

Smith served as an Assistant County Attorney, then three terms as Hennepin County Attorney. Just days before what would have been the start of a fourth term, Smith died in office.

 

James Robertson

Hennepin County Attorney 1911-1915

 

John Rees

Hennepin County Attorney 1915-1919

John Rees was born in 1861 in Indiana. Rees was self-taught in law and moved to Minneapolis in 1884. He served one term as Hennepin County Attorney.

 

William N. Nash

Hennepin County Attorney 1919-1920

William Nash, implicated in the infamous “Whiskey Conspiracy”, was temporarily suspended office then removed from office in 1920.
