National Night Out
National Night Out is America's night out against crime. It is an event designed to increase public safety by building relationships between neighbors. Many block club leaders set up parties on their street, while neighborhood associations and community groups organize larger events. In some communities it is celebrated as Night to Unite.
Each year the Hennepin County Attorney's Office participates. Staff visit community events and neighborhood block parties across the county, speaking with residents, answering questions about the justice system, and sharing crime prevention tips. By taking the time to meet neighbors and share information about public safety, Hennepin County is a safer place to live and work.
The event is celebrated on the first Tuesday of August. This year, National Night Out is Tuesday, August 5, 2014.
