Timberwolves player charged with domestic assault
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office charged Minnesota Timberwolves player Dante Cunningham with domestic assault by strangulation Friday.
Cunningham, 26, of Medina, is expected to make his first appearance Monday.
According to the criminal complaint (PDF), a woman called 911 and when police arrived at the house noticed she had redness and marks on her neck. She told them she has been dating Cunningham since last summer and they have been living together for eight months. However, they have been having problems recently and sometime after 3:30 a.m. Thursday, they got into an argument and she locked the bedroom door after Cunningham left.
A short time later, he came back and kicked in the door. Cunningham grabbed her by the neck, slammed her against the wall and strangled her for about 15 to 20 seconds, before letting her go and leaving the home, the complaint states.
