Friday, August 14, 2015

A 35-year-old man has been charged with felony possession of a firearm by an ineligible person, and second degree assault with a dangerous weapon, after pointing a black semi-automatic BB gun at officers who were called to an Edina residence by his distressed parents.

Colin Peter Reinsmoen was charged in the August 8 incident.  Bail has been set at $100,000.

According to the criminal complaint filed by the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, police responded to a 911 call for help from Reinsmoen’s parents after he threatened them. Upon arrival, police found Reinsmoen with his hands covered by a blanket. Reinsmoen initially refused to show the officers his hands and then threw the blanket aside and pointed what appeared to be a handgun directly at one of the officers. Two officers shot Reinsmoen and he was later transported to the hospital. A black semi-automatic BB gun was recovered from the scene.
