Drunk driver charged in death of motorcyclist
A St. Paul woman will make her first court appearance in connection with a November accident that killed a motorcyclist while she was driving drunk, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Tuesday.
Hannah Christie Weyh, 28, was charged with a single count of criminal vehicular homicide in the Nov. 8 accident near 230 Broadway St. NE., just west of University Avenue in Minneapolis. She will make her first court appearance at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to the criminal complaint, Weyh was driving west on Broadway about 6 p.m. when she remembered she needed to feed her dog. She was making a left turn into a parking lot when the motorcycle, driven by Brandon Pearson, 31, hit the front passenger side of the car. Weyh claimed the lights on the motorcycle were not on.
However, witnesses said Pearson had his lights on and was traveling east on Broadway when Weyh’s car turned into his lane. Weyh’s blood alcohol content was measured at .19, more than double the legal limit, the complaint states.
