A Minneapolis man was charged with second-degree murder when he fatally shot a man who was trying to buy marijuana from him, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

Lannon Burdunice, 25, is expected to make his first court appearance Friday. Prosecutors will be asking for bail of $2 million.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to 66th and Camden Avenues North in Brooklyn Center on a shooting and found 31-year-old Joshua Hofmann of Mounds View dead in the driver’s seat of a car. A woman who was with him in the car told police they had come to purchase marijuana from a dealer, who instead, tried to take $40 from Hofmann and then shot him.

The complaint also states that both the woman and another witness said they saw Burdunice run into a townhouse. Police surrounded the townhomes and ordered everyone out and arrested Burdunice when he emerged from the townhouse where he frequently stays. Police later recovered a 9 mm handgun underneath the deck at the townhome. The discharged casings by the car were 9 mm.
