County Attorney Freeman, 275 staffers attending National Night Out
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman will visit National Night Out gatherings in Minneapolis and some suburbs Tuesday.
In addition, 275 staff members of the county attorney’s office will fan out across the county Tuesday night. They will talk to people at large events as well as neighborhood block parties.
“I look forward to National Night Out the same way I look forward to the fishing opener or opening day at the ballpark,” Freeman said. “It’s a fun time. We enjoy seeing all these people going out and visiting with their neighbors, building the bonds that can help prevent crime. For me and the other people who work for the county attorney’s office, it is a good chance to hand out pencils and beach balls to children and tell the adults what we do and hear from them what they would like us to do better.”
With the theme of “Empowering our Community through Justice,” Freeman and the rest of the staff will talk about the nuisance properties, be@school, curfew diversion and other county attorney programs designed to reduce crime and strengthen neighborhoods throughout Hennepin County. But all the county attorney’s staff will be answering the questions residents might have and listening to complaints or suggestions on how the office could do its job better.
