Minneapolis man sentenced to prison in heroin overdose
Hennepin County District Court Judge William Koch sentenced a Minneapolis man to 72 months in prison for selling heroin that killed a Maple Grove man who overdosed, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Monday.
James Marione Butchee, 32, pleaded guilty to second degree manslaughter on December 12 for the July 2014 death of the 22-year-old victim.
Assistant Hennepin County Attorney Christina Warren spoke on behalf of the victim’s mother who was not present in court. Her life is forever changed. She lost her only child who enjoyed playing guitar and was a remarkable young man.
Butchee was taken in to custody Monday at his sentencing and will receive 319 days of credit for time he has already served.
