Francisco Benitez Hernandez, 38, his brother and their brother-in-law were sitting in the backyard of Benitez Hernandez’s home at 3629 Columbus Ave. S. about 11 p.m. Monday when Grant and Griffin walked up to them, pointed a gun and demanded money and cell phones, according to the criminal complaint (PDF) against Griffin.

Grant told police that Griffin fired the shots that killed Benitez Hernandez, wounded his brother in the arm and missed striking the brother-in-law who also suffered minor injuries, the complaint (PDF) against Grant states.
