Driver in Monday police chase charged with a felony

A woman who led police on about a 40-mile chase was charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Wednesday.

Diane Roberta Chosa, 24, is expected to make her first court appearance Thursday.

According to the criminal complaint (PDF), a Minneapolis police officer saw a car parked behind a garage Monday afternoon near Girard and Humboldt Avenues N. The car had been reported stolen, so he told the driver and the passenger to put their hands where he could see them. Instead, Chosa, who was driving, sped off in the car.

Chosa scraped other cars and smashed into another one just south of Shakopee. She got out of the car and started to run but was quickly caught by police.

The passenger was not charged with any crimes by the county attorney’s office.
