Man charged in last week’s North Minneapolis murder

A Minneapolis man was charged (PDF) with aiding and abetting second-degree murder in a shooting inside a North Minneapolis home, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Tuesday.

Demiteras Al Cooper, 37, is expected to make his first appearance today. He was charged in connection with the Thursday shooting death of Johnathon Harris, 32, inside a home at 2017 Hillside Ave. N.

According to the complaint, Cooper and Harris and another man went to a bar for drinks. Eventually,  Cooper and the other man left the bar without Harris. The two men fought as they drove to the Hillside address, where the other man went in and Cooper drove away.

About a half-hour later, Cooper returned to the Hillside home with one of his relatives. By now, Harris had returned from the bar and during an argument in the house, Cooper’s relative shot Harris and the two men fled, the complaint states.
