A murder charge was filed against an 18-year-old Robbinsdale  man in a shooting death last week, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Monday.

Eugene Watkins was charged with intentional second-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Jason Adams. Watkins is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday. Adams was killed inside his apartment at 2101 Third Ave. S. One of Watkins’ accomplices also was charged.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the apartment building about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and found Adams bleeding. Paramedics took him to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

Witnesses told police that three men came to Adams’ apartment to buy marijuana from him. However, once inside the apartment, Watkins pulled out a gun and told Adams to just give him the drug. At that point, the two men exchanged gunfire. The three men fled and one of them drove Watkins to the medical center for treatment of a bullet wound, according to the complaint.

Trevone Seantez Little, 21, was identified as the driver and the county attorney’s office charged him  Monday with aiding an offender after the fact.
