Son charged with stealing from mom, severely neglecting her health, held on $1 million bail

A Plymouth man who wheeled his ailing mother into a local bank just hours before she died in order to obtain more money appeared in court after being extradited from California, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Wednesday.
In March, David John Vanzo, 57, was charged by warrant with two counts of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult as well as one count each of the criminal neglect and attempted theft by swindle.

Judge Daniel Mabley set bail at $1 million. Vanzo’s next court appearance will be June 29.
