Woman pleads guilty in fatal boyfriend stabbing
Bianca Jackson pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing her boyfriend and faces up to 13 years in prison, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Tuesday.
Jackson, 23, of Richfield, pleaded guilty Monday to unintentional second-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Anthony Morgan. She will be sentenced on Dec. 21, and because she has no prior felony convictions, the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines recommend a sentence between 128 and 158 months in prison.
During her guilty plea, Jackson said that she and Morgan were arguing and she pulled out a pocket knife and meant to stab his shoulder, but instead jabbed it into the base of his neck. The knife blade cut the major carotid artery.
According to the criminal complaint, Jackson went to the apartment in the 2100 block of Third Ave. S. about noon on June 10, 2015 to visit Morgan. They had been dating for several years. Around 4 p.m., they were lying on the bed. She wanted to sleep and Morgan wanted to have sex, so she stabbed him.
Morgan fled out the apartment building door and ran to two men who were standing nearby. One gave him a towel to apply to his wound, while the other called for an ambulance. Morgan was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
