Accomplice charged in Minneapolis double homicide

Rashad Austin was charged with aiding an offender, accomplice after the fact in the shooting of a baby and a 20-year-old man, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Thursday.

Austin, 25, of Minneapolis helped Jquan McInnis, who has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Gustav Christianson II and seven-month-old Jayden Redden on Oct. 9.

According to the criminal complaint, Austin was in a car with McInnis immediately before and after the two victims were shot. McInnis had several documents, including a ticket for transportation out of Minneapolis after the shooting and he asked Austin to get rid of the documents and Austin made efforts to do so.

The complaint also states that McInnis instructed Austin to contact several witnesses who had been cooperating with police to tell them to stop helping in his prosecution, and Austin did so.

The county attorney’s office will be seeking bail of $1 million.
