James Wren sentenced to 30 years in prison

James Wren was sentenced to 30 years in prison for unintentional second-degree murder and first-degree assault, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Thursday. This was the first murder trial in Hennepin County since the coronavirus shutdown.

Wren, 36, of Minneapolis, was acquitted on June 30 by the jury for first-degree murder, but convicted of unintentional second-degree murder for the death of 40-year-old Michael Clark. He was also convicted of first-degree assault for shooting and permanently paralyzing 21-year-old Tedika Clark.
