Bayport man sentenced to 40 years for fatal 2023 shooting

10/21/2024

Daniel Martez Walker, 32, was sentenced Monday to 480 months for the death of Reese Crenshaw on June 2, 2023.

A Hennepin County jury convicted Mr. Walker of one count of second-degree intentional murder and one count of prohibited possession of a firearm following a nine-day trial in September 2024.

“This was a callous act of unprovoked violence,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “Our thoughts are with Mr. Crenshaw’s loved ones. While a long sentence will not bring Mr. Crenshaw back to his family and friends, it is appropriate and necessary to bring accountability to Mr. Walker and to protect our community.”

Case Number: 27-CR-23-11766
