Hennepin County Attorney’s Office charges one in relation to St. Anne’s Place altercation

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office today charged Eureka Dominique Riser (aka Eureka Willis), 33, with second-degree riot and criminal damage to property for her role in an altercation at St. Anne’s Place.
On Sept. 5, officers responded to a disturbance at St. Anne’s Place, a shelter for unhoused families in Minneapolis. Surveillance footage showed people, including the victim, run inside the shelter. A few minutes later, a group of at least three people including Riser approached the front door of the building. Riser left briefly and returned with a baseball bat, which she used to hit the front door.
Minutes later, the victim came outside and then back inside through the side door. Riser, who was still carrying the baseball bat, and at least two others followed the victim up the side steps of the building. Riser is then seen on video hitting the side door with the bat and shattering the glass, while the victim and other residents – including children – were inside.
Building managers estimate the damage reaches at least $10,000. All residents had to be evacuated and moved to another building due to safety concerns.
"This violent attack on some of our most vulnerable community members, unhoused women and children, in a place where they had gone to seek shelter and safety cannot be tolerated,” said Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty.
Today’s charges reflect the evidence received to date; however, the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be brought against those involved where appropriate.
Riser is currently in custody.
