Hennepin County Attorney’s Office secures guilty verdicts against three men for 2025 fatal shooting

A Hennepin County jury returned guilty verdicts today against Jose David Vazquez-Rodriguez, Raphael Joseph Rodriguez, and Victor Vasquez-Rodriguez for the killing of Tiago Antonio Gilbert on April 30, 2025, in Minneapolis.

The three men were found guilty of the following charges:

Jose David Vazquez-Rodriguez, 23:

One count of second-degree intentional murder

Raphael Joseph Rodriguez, 37:

Two counts of aiding an offender after the fact

Victor Joseph Vasquez-Rodriguez, 21:

One count of second-degree intentional murder

All three defendants were convicted via joint trial, where multiple defendants may be combined into a single trial.

“This was an intentional act of extreme violence that took Mr. Gilbert’s life, and my thoughts are with his family after this verdict was delivered,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “The three men are being held accountable. I’m grateful to the jury for their service and to our trial team and victim services specialists for their work on this case.”

September 15 at 9 a.m.

Raphael Joseph Rodriguez, 27-CR-25-10886

October 7 at 9 a.m.

Victor Joseph Vasquez-Rodriguez, 27-CR-25-10889

October 6 at 9 a.m.
