STATEMENT: HCA Mary Moriarty releases statement in response to naming of MPD interim chief

6/2/2026

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty released the following statement Tuesday, June 2:

“I was in consistent communication with Acting Chief Blackwell over the last week and we agreed that changes needed to be made immediately to improve domestic violence responses, especially with Gone-on Arrival (GOA) cases.

I am grateful to Acting Chief Blackwell for her collaboration and acting with urgency on this critical issue, and look forward to continued implementation of these changes and collaboration with Interim Chief Peterson.”
