8/13/2019

Update

Two new charges were filed against Robert Buckingham on Sept. 3. The complaints have been added below.

Original press release

Robert Earl Buckingham has been charged in a Minneapolis home invasion, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Tuesday.

Buckingham, 33,of Minneapolis, was charged with one count of first-degree burglary and one count of first-degree aggravated robbery.

According to the criminal complaint, on August 11, around 6:52 pm, police responded to a report of a burglary at a home in the 2700 block of 12th Avenue South.

The complaint alleges that Buckingham entered the home, tied up a teenager, ransacked the home, and stole a large amount of cash. Two other children were present at the time of the burglary, but were not harmed.

Video surveillance shows Buckingham walking outside the victim’s home and later driving away. A later search warrant on Buckingham’s home resulted in the recovery of the clothing he was seen wearing on the video and a large amount of cash. Buckingham's car was also recovered near his home, according to the complaint.

Buckingham remains jailed on $250,000 bail. His first court appearance is set for Wednesday August 14 at 1:30 p.m.
