James Blue pleads guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular homicide

4/5/2022

On April 5, James Blue pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular homicide — operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .08 or more, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Tuesday.

The plea agreement calls for Blue, 52, of Orono, to be sentenced to 42 months in prison for one count of criminal vehicular homicide, and 48 months in prison for the other criminal vehicular homicide count. These sentences will be served consecutively for a total of 90 months in prison.

Per the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines, both counts have a range of 41–57 months in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 5 at 1:30 p.m.
