Eggleston sentenced to 480 months in prison

On April 28, Erik Eggleston was sentenced to 480 months in prison for fatally shooting then 29-year-old Nigar Mammadzada in mid-November 2020, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Thursday.

Eggleston, 40, of Robbinsdale, appeared remotely for the sentencing. The 480 months for which he was sentenced is an upward durational departure due to aggravating factors. According to the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines, the presumptive sentence is 306 months, with a range of 261-367 months in prison.

On Nov. 16, 2020, Eggleston was charged with intentional second-degree murder. He pleaded guilty to the intentional second-degree murder count on April 13, 2022.

For time served already, Eggleston will receive 531 days of credit.
