Bloomington man sentenced in 2023 death of 15-year-old Ka’Maih Johnson

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office secured a 150-month sentence for Antonio Lamar Brooks, Jr., 20, in the shooting death of Ka’Maih Johnson.

Mr. Brooks pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree unintentional murder on Sept. 6, 2024. He shot and killed Ka’Maih, who was 15, near Lakes of the Isles in July 2023.

“My thoughts are with Ka’Maih’s family,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “She should still be with her family. Instead, the community has lost another young person to gun violence. Mr. Brooks will be held accountable for his actions, but we must do more at every level to reduce the terrible impact of gun violence in our communities.”
