11/25/2015

The suspects from the Monday night shooting near the Fourth Precinct are in custody at the Hennepin County Jail and will remain there until at least Monday, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Wednesday.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Minneapolis police and federal investigators continue to work on obtaining evidence against the suspects and the Hennepin County Attorney and the U.S. Attorney are in consultation.

As a result of the continuing investigation, the Hennepin County Attorney’s office asked for, and a Hennepin County District Court judge has granted an extension until noon Monday before the county attorney’s office has to make a charging decision in regards to Joseph Backman, Nathan Gustavsson, Daniel Macey and Allen Scarsella.

Although the investigation will continue over the Thanksgiving weekend, no further developments will be reported by this office until Monday.
