A Blaine woman was charged with killing two people when she struck one car and flipped the van she was driving, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Monday.
Michele Reimann, 47, was charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide and one count of criminal vehicular operation for injuring a third person. Reimann was still in the hospital so no first appearance has been set. When it happens, prosecutors will be seeking bail of $250,000.
According to the criminal complaint, Reimann was with two others early Friday evening when they pulled into a convenience store near 2600 W. Broadway Avenue in Minneapolis. The driver went inside the store and when she returned she saw Reimann driving away in the van with the other friend.
Witnesses said she was driving at a high speed and crashed in an alley just north of Lowry Avenue near Penn Avenue North. Before flipping over the van she was driving, Reimann struck a car parked in the alley and killed 40-year-old Terrence Odom of Minneapolis. She also killed one of her companions in the van and injured a passenger in the car she struck, the complaint states.
