Charged in Ramsey County, man now charged in Hennepin over sex assault videos

A Shoreview man, already charged in Ramsey County, was charged with stalking and three counts of criminal sexual conduct involving a woman in Bloomington, Hennepin county Attorney Mike Freeman announced Friday.

Jeffrey Eldred, 32, was expected to make his first court appearance Friday on the charges of pattern of stalking and three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, the investigation began when Eldred brought a woman to his Shoreview home on Nov. 3. She slept in his bed because she had too much to drink and several times he tried to have sex with her, but she fended him off.

The next morning, Eldred allowed the woman to use his computer. She saw at least 40 videos of him engaging in sex with different women while they slept. She took photos of the videos and turned them over to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, which began the investigation.

When investigators went to his home with a search warrant, they asked Eldred to explain the videos. He said they were almost all of his ex-girlfriend and that she was aware he was videotaping her. The search warrant allowed the investigators to seize Eldred’s phone and they found a naked video of the first woman and several sexually explicit videos of his ex-girlfriend, the complaint states.

Earlier this week, investigators met with the woman who said she and Eldred did have an intermittent relationship for the past year and he frequently stayed overnight at her home in Hennepin County. She said she was unaware that he was videotaping her while she was passed out, with one exception. She once found something weird on her phone and asked Eldred about it. He told her that she had asked him to take pictures of her. She asked him if he had other photos of her and he denied it but later threatened to send a naked photo of her to her new boyfriend, according to the complaint.

The woman reviewed numerous photos and videos from Eldred’s phone taken on several different dates of her with her breasts and genitals exposed while she was not awake and sometimes Eldred was committing sexual acts, the complaint states. Most of those incidents happened in Hennepin County.

Investigators continue to examine the videos in an attempt to identify other women, according to the complaint. The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office charged Eldred earlier this week with one count of attempted third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
