School employee charged with exposing himself to students

4/3/2019

A Hopkins man employed at a school in Plymouth, was charged with criminal sexual conduct for exposing himself to students, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Wednesday.

Matthew Bowers, 35, was charged with two counts of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of indecent exposure. He is expected to make his first court appearance Thursday.

According to the criminal complaint, a seven-year-old student told her mother she had seen Bowers’ penis on pajama day, which the elementary school identified as March 19. That girl and an eight-year-old girl were interviewed and they said that Bowers was pushing them on a swing while wearing red pajamas with a zipper.

The girls thought Bowers wanted them to unzip the pajamas, so they did. He was not wearing underwear so they could see his penis and his pierced belly button. The complaint states the girls said that he said nothing and just kept pushing them on the swing.

In addition, both girls said that on a day earlier in the school year they were in the school library with Bowers and they pulled down his pants a little. He then pulled the pants down farther, revealing his butt and penis, according to the complaint.
