Two Minneapolis men have been charged in connection with robbing an Edina CVS, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Friday.
Dajone Turner, 28, and Demarco Gunn, 26, were charged with first-degree aggravated robbery. Turner also faces one-count of fleeing a peace officer, while Gunn has been charged with one-count of possession of a firearm by an ineligible person. Both men are scheduled to make their first court appearance April 20.
According to the criminal complaint, on April 16, shortly after 8:00 p.m., Edina Police responded to a call that there was an armed robbery is progress at a CVS in Edina, MN. When police arrived, the men had already fled the store after robbing the pharmacy at gunpoint.
A tracking device from the pharmacy helped police locate Turner and Gunn, who had driven from the scene in a stolen vehicle. Police pursued and located the suspects northbound on Xerxes Avenue. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, driven by Turner, but Turner sped away from officers at speeds reaching approximately 100 miles per hour, the complaint states.
Turner eventually lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a residential property on Xerxes Avenue. Edina police officers and officers from assisting agencies arrested Turner and Gunn at the scene of the crash. Surveillance footage from the CVS pharmacy depicts both men wearing the same clothing they were apprehended in, the complaint continues. Inside the vehicle, police recovered more than 6,000 controlled substance pills which had been stolen from the pharmacy.
Bail for both Turner and Gunn has been set at $500,000.
