On December 11, Zachary Robinson, 27, of St. Paul, was sentenced to 590 months after pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree murder on December 2, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office announced Friday. Robinson fatally shot 27-year-old Leneesha Columbus on July 5, who was pregnant with their 26-week-old unborn child at the time. The baby died August 6 as a result of the premature birth after having been on life support for a month.
As part of the plea agreement, Robinson received 329 months for the death of Ms. Columbus, and 261 months for the death of their baby. These sentences will be served consecutively for a total of 590 months.
Robinson also pleaded guilty to a second-degree assault charge stemming from an unrelated incident for which he shot a male victim outside of Augie’s in downtown Minneapolis on December 7, 2019. He received 51 months. That sentence will be served concurrently with the murder case. He will be sentenced December 18.
