Robert Buckingham sentenced to 184 months in prison

5/15/2020

Robert Buckingham, 33, was sentenced to 184 months in prison for three counts of first-degree burglary, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Friday. He pleaded guilty to these charges on Feb. 3, 2020.

According to criminal complaints, on June 2, 2019, Buckingham entered through the front door of a residence on the 2700 block of 12th Ave. S., threatened people inside with a handgun and took money from the home.

At the same residence on Aug. 11, 2019, Buckingham zip-tied a teenager at knife point, ransacked the home and stole an estimated $10,000 in cash. Video surveillance showed Buckingham walking outside the home and driving away, the complaint states.

On June 26, 2019, Buckingham broke into a home at the 2700 block of 15th Ave. S. and punched a man in the face while pointing a handgun at him. Buckingham fled before police arrived but was later identified by investigators in surveillance video.

A search warrant on Buckingham’s home resulted in the recovery of the clothing he was seen wearing in the Aug. 11 video and just over $10,000 in cash. Phone record data also showed Buckingham in the same vicinity during the June burglaries, the complaint says.
