Former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin charged with murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd

UPDATE (June 8, 2020): Former Minneapolis Police Officer, Derek Chauvin, made his first appearance June 8. Bail was increased to $1.25M. His next scheduled court appearance is June 29.

Former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin was charged with murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced at a news conference Friday.

No first appearance has been set, yet, for Chauvin, 44, of Oakdale.
