Dontae White found guilty by jury of intentional second-degree murder

On August 13, 25-year-old Dontae White, of Minneapolis, was found guilty of intentional second-degree murder and felon in possession for a shooting death that occurred at a house party in North Minneapolis in April 2020, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Monday.
The trial began August 2 with jury selection, and closing arguments were made on August 11. Jury deliberations started Aug. 12 and lasted until mid-day August 13. During that time, the jury found White guilty of the two counts he faced stemming from the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Kevin Beasley on April 18, 2020.
White is scheduled for sentencing on September 27 at 2 p.m.
In June 2015, White was convicted of first-degree assault which prohibited him from carrying a firearm.
