Vance Chatman certified to stand trial as an adult

On June 9, a Hennepin County Juvenile Court Judge certified Vance Chatman to stand trial as an adult for his involvement in multiple carjackings, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Friday.
Chatman, 17, of Minneapolis, was charged for participating in two separate but related carjackings in December 2021 which occurred in St. Louis Park and Edina.
For those offenses, Chatman was charged with five counts of first-degree aggravated robbery:
- 27-CR-22-11182: Two counts of first-degree aggravated robbery, and
- 27-CR-22-11183: Three counts of first-degree aggravated robbery.
Chatman also has two additional cases he now faces as an adult for carjacking-related offenses that happened in Crystal, on Nov. 30, 2021, and Minneapolis, on Feb. 16, 2022:
- 27-CR-22-11179: First-degree aggravated robbery and theft of a motor vehicle, and
- 27-CR-22-11194: Illegally possessing a gun or ammunition and theft of a motor vehicle.
His first appearance is scheduled for June 13 at 1:30 p.m.
