St. Louis Park man sentenced to 78 months on criminal vehicular homicide charge
8/23/2024
David Andrew Boll, 50, was today sentenced to 78 months after pleading guilty to one count of criminal vehicular homicide following a crash that killed Catherine Regina Caron on Sept. 12, 2023.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office sought a 93-month sentence due to the details of the incident and Boll’s previous record.
“Our thoughts today are with Catherine Caron’s family as they endure another of many difficult days,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “Mr. Boll drove in a grossly negligent manner and caused an unimaginable loss to the victim’s family. A significant sentence is necessary to sufficiently protect the community.”
According to the complaint:
On Sept. 12, 2023, the Minnesota State Patrol responded to a three-car collision at the intersection of Highway 55 and Industrial Park Boulevard in Plymouth.
Boll was speeding, ran a red light at the intersection, and hit the vehicle belonging to the victim, who had a green light. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The third driver faced non-felony charges in Plymouth.
The incident was captured on video and corroborated by witness statements.
After displaying signs of impairment at the scene, Boll was arrested and a blood test later showed the presence of THC.
A crash reconstruction conducted by the Minnesota State Patrol determined Boll made impact with the victim’s car while traveling at least 71 mph in a 55-mph speed zone and had ample time to stop for the red light.
