Marvin Dancy sentenced to 166 months for February shooting

12/19/2024

Marvin Jewell Dancy, 46, was sentenced Thursday to 166 months for a Minneapolis shooting that killed 21-year-old Wence Edwards in February 2024.

In November, Mr. Dancy pleaded guilty to second-degree unintentional murder and a separate count of prohibited person in possession of a firearm for a gun found on him when he was arrested a few weeks later.

“Mr. Dancy is being held accountable for his actions,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “Our thoughts are with Mr. Edwards’ family as they grieve their immense loss.”

Case Number: 27-CR-24-4646
