Marquis Gardner and Anthony Winston sentenced for roles in 2023 shooting

Marquis Deonte Gardner, 34, was sentenced to 330 months for a Minneapolis shooting on Feb. 21, 2023, that killed Alexis Rae Rodriguez.
Mr. Gardner pleaded guilty earlier this year to one count of second-degree intentional murder and one count of attempted second-degree intentional murder.
Additionally, Anthony Leandre Winston, 39, was sentenced to 120 months after previously pleading guilty to two counts of aiding an offender – accomplice after the fact.
“My thoughts are with Alexis’s family, and all others who were impacted by Mr. Gardner’s and Mr. Winston’s actions that day,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “They are both being held accountable for their role in this tragic incident, and we have secured two sentences that protect the community."
Mr. Gardner has 659 days of credit for time already served.
Mr. Winston has 100 days of credit for time already served.
