12/22/2025
Lyndon Akeem Wiggins, 40, was sentenced Monday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2019 murder of Monique Baugh.
He was convicted by a jury on Nov. 3, 2025, of the following charges:
- One count of aiding/abetting first-degree premeditated murder
- One count of aiding/abetting first-degree premeditated attempted murder
- One count of aiding/abetting kidnapping to commit great bodily harm
- One count of aiding/abetting first-degree murder while committing the crime of kidnapping
“Today’s sentencing is the culmination of six years of hearings, trials, appeals, and retrials through which Monique’s family has suffered,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “Mr. Wiggins was responsible for Monique’s death, and we are holding him accountable. He will not harm another member of this community. My thoughts are with Monique’s family, and I hope this sentencing provides some measure of comfort and closure.”
In June 2021, a Hennepin County jury convicted two of Mr. Wiggins’ co-defendants, Cedric Berry and Berry Davis, of aiding and abetting first-degree premeditated murder, aiding and abetting first-degree premeditated attempted murder, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and aiding and abetting first-degree murder while committing kidnapping.
A judge sentenced Mr. Berry and Mr. Davis to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Elsa Segura, a third co-defendant, pleaded guilty in 2024 to kidnapping to commit great bodily harm. She was sentenced to 240 months; an upward departure from Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines due to the particular cruelty of the crime and the involvement of three or more perpetrators.
Mr. Wiggins has 1981 days of credit for time already served.
