Anthony Leikas sentenced to 158 months for starting tent on fire with man inside
1/31/2025
Anthony Curtis Leikas, 34, was sentenced to 158 months after pleading guilty to first-degree assault, great bodily harm, on Jan. 24, 2024.
His guilty plea stems from an incident at an encampment in Minneapolis in December 2023, when he set the tent of a man who requires use of a wheelchair on fire. The victim suffered serious burns.
“This was a horrific act of violence against a vulnerable member of our community who was unable to flee the situation. I’m grateful the victim survived,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “Mr. Leikas is being held accountable, and the community will be protected from him. Our office is committed to protecting all residents of this county; especially the most vulnerable among us.”
Mr. Leikas has 425 days of credit for time served.
