Steven Bailey sentenced to 360 months for fatal 2024 crash into Park Tavern in St. Louis Park
7/28/2025
Steven Frane Bailey, 56, was sentenced Monday to 360 months after previously pleading guilty to multiple charges stemming from his crash into Park Tavern on Sept. 1, 2024.
Mr. Bailey pleaded guilty on May 7, 2025, to the following charges:
- Two counts of third-degree murder – depraved mind
- Three counts of criminal vehicular operation – great bodily harm
Gabe Harvey and Kristina Folkerts were killed in the incident and numerous other victims sustained injuries when Mr. Bailey arrived at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park with a BAC of .335, struck two vehicles, then drove through the fully occupied patio at a high rate of speed.
“Our thoughts are with Gabe and Kristina’s families today, along with all who were injured or affected by Mr. Bailey’s senseless actions, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “He is being held accountable, and the length of this sentence ensures he cannot hurt anyone else. This was yet another completely avoidable tragedy. Plenty of options exist to get where you need to go safely; there is no excuse for drinking and driving.”
Mr. Bailey was initially charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide and nine counts of criminal vehicular operation with varying degrees of injury.
Following a thorough review of additional evidence not available at the time of the initial charging decision, the charges were amended to include two counts of third-degree murder and 12 counts of criminal vehicular operation.
Mr. Bailey has 43 days of credit for time already served.
