Brooklyn Park man sentenced to 922 months for 2024 shooting

Kevin Jason Harris, 28, was sentenced Friday to 922 months for his role in the shooting death of Mohamed Ade and the attempted murder of three others in April 2024.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office secured guilty verdicts against Mr. Harris on all counts at trial:

One count of second-degree intentional murder
Three counts of second-degree attempted murder
One count of owning, possessing, or operating a handgun modified with a “switch”
One count of prohibited person in possession of a firearm

“This was another tragic instance of gun violence that took the life of one person and harmed many more,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “Today, my thoughts are with Mr. Ade’s family and with the other victims and their families. Mr. Harris is being held accountable, and his sentence will protect our community.”

Mr. Harris has 222 days of credit for time served.
