John Jones sentenced to 180 months for 2023 shooting

3/20/2025

John Perone Jones, 27, was sentenced Thursday to 180 months for a shooting on Jan. 13, 2023, in Brooklyn Center.

Mr. Jones previously pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree unintentional murder while committing a felony for causing the death of Kevin Wallace.

“Mr. Jones committed a callous act of violence that took the life of Kevin Wallace,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “My thoughts are with Kevin’s family and loved ones. Mr. Jones is being held accountable, and a lengthy sentence is appropriate to protect the community.”

Mr. Jones has 445 days of credit for time already served.

Case Number: 27-CR-23-2000
