Edwin Trudeau sentenced to 74 months for aiding offender

Edwin Cosmo Trudeau, 20, was sentenced Monday to 74 months on one charge of aiding an offender, accomplice after the fact, for helping to conceal the murder of an eight-month-old child, Mateo, in March 2024.

He pleaded guilty on Feb. 23, 2025.

Mr. Trudeau’s co-defendant, Esperanza Harding, 21, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional murder for killing her child and was sentenced to 384 months this spring.

“Mr. Trudeau attempted to help conceal a violent, heartbreaking act,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “All of our thoughts are with Mateo’s family. They should be getting ready to celebrate his second birthday, and instead they’re left with a lifetime of grief. Mr. Trudeau is being held accountable for his actions.”

Mr. Trudeau has 145 days of credit for time already served.
