Minneapolis man sentenced to 475 months for second-degree intentional murder
5/12/2025
Larondo Connell Willis, 38, was sentenced to 475 months after previously being found guilty of second-degree intentional murder at trial.
Mr. Willis was convicted by a Hennepin County jury on April 22, 2025, for the death of Eddie Winters in March 2024. The second-degree intentional murder charge was the lone count he faced.
“We sought a lengthy sentence for Mr. Willis to protect the public in light of the severity of his crime,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “While he is being held accountable, it does not bring Eddie back to his loved ones. My thoughts are with all of them today.”
The 475-month sentence is an upward departure from the presumptive sentence of 386 months under the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines.
Mr. Willis has 419 days of credit for time already served.
Case Number: 27-CR-24-7029
Additional information:
The Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines determine the presumptive sentence for felony offenses. The presumptive sentence is reached by comparing the severity level of the offense with the defendant’s criminal history score. In this instance, the presumptive sentence for Mr. Willis was 386 months.
A sentence may depart from the sentencing guidelines if the court finds it appropriate.
