Mohamud Bulle found guilty on all counts in Sexual Assault Kit Initiative trial
10/9/2025
A Hennepin County jury on Wednesday found Mohamud Hillow Bulle, 36, guilty on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of kidnapping in a cold case rape investigation and prosecution by the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) team.
“Accountability for these crimes took more than a decade but it has finally been delivered,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “My thoughts are with the victim and her loved ones. I am grateful to our team for their work on this case and to all those involved with SAKI. This initiative is critically important to hold offenders accountable for past crimes.”
The investigation into Mr. Bulle came as a result of the collaboration between the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), and the Minneapolis Police Department. Through continued investigation and testing by BCA forensic scientists, along with the HCAO SAKI team, Mr. Bulle was identified as the suspect earlier this year.
SAKI was created to test previously untested sexual assault kits from the Minneapolis Police Department. It is a nationwide project to address the untested sexual assault kits and working with victims to build cases and provide them with supportive services.
Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 12, 2025, at 9 a.m.
