Hennepin County Attorney’s Office secures guilty plea for murder of Justin “Juice” Marshall
4/6/2026
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office secured a guilty plea from Dijon Jacquez Davis for killing Justin “Juice” Marshall on July 25, 2025.
Through work on other cases, Dijon Davis was developed as a suspect in the murder of Mr. Marshall. Last week, as part of negotiations related to resolution of other charged cases that were set for trial today, Mr. Davis agreed to speak with investigators to explain what happened to Mr. Marshall. Although Mr. Davis was a suspect, additional evidence was needed to prove the case. HCAO prosecutors ensured that Mr. Davis provided facts to investigators that only the person who shot Mr. Marshall would have known. A complaint was only filed in this case once HCAO was convinced that Mr. Davis did in fact kill Mr. Marshall.
While the other cases were set for trial today, under the terms of the plea, the case involving the murder of Mr. Marshall was handled first. Mr. Davis pled guilty today to second-degree intentional murder and will be sentenced to 261 months for killing Mr. Marshall. The other pending cases against Mr. Davis are expected to be resolved with a related plea deal after the sentencing hearing on this matter.
“My thoughts are with Justin’s family as they finally have some answers from today’s guilty plea,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “This came together over the last few days, but Mr. Davis has taken responsibility and will now be serving his time for Justin’s murder. Numerous people were victimized by Mr. Davis during this period in 2025, but none more so than Justin, his family, and the community that loved him and we wanted to ensure they had their own day in court.”
In a voluntary statement, Mr. Davis admitted that he had a verbal altercation with Mr. Marshall before ultimately exiting his vehicle and shooting Mr. Marshall.
Mr. Marshall’s death was felt throughout south Minneapolis, and “Justice for Juice” signs can still be seen around the area.
Mr. Davis is currently scheduled to be sentenced on May 7 at 1 p.m.
