HCAO files second-degree murder charges for fatal Edina shooting

4/24/2026

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has charged Elevoun Quinnell Wren, 22, with one count of second-degree intentional murder for the fatal shooting of John Stroud on April 22 in Edina.

Mr. Wren is in custody. The investigation is complex and ongoing.

“John was a beloved son and brother, and his murder is absolutely devastating. He should be with his family,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “We are grateful to the Edina Police for their excellent investigative work and collaboration with our office to ensure that our community will be protected from further harm by Mr. Wren.”

Case Number: 27-CR-26-10456
