Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty statement on another ICE arrest at Government Center

2/10/2026

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty released the following statement after ICE arrested an individual at the Hennepin County Government Center Tuesday morning:

"Using local government courthouses for federal civil immigration enforcement interferes with the administration of justice, prevents witnesses from testifying and robs victims of their opportunity to seek justice.

Earlier today, ICE agents arrested a man who was making a court appearance in a case we charged for First-Degree Drug Possession for possessing over 50 pounds of methamphetamine.

The arrest, which happened on the skyway level at the Government Center, was disruptive and disturbing to many. Staff who work in the building were afraid to leave their offices for fear of being racially profiled."
