Hennepin County Attorney’s Office secures guilty pleas from Teniki Steward for fatal 2024 crash

2/23/2026

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office secured guilty pleas from Teniki Latrice Steward, 40, related to a fatal traffic incident that killed Rose Reece and Esther Fulks in December 2024.

A 17-year-old was injured after the vehicles struck a nearby bus stop after the initial impact and Ms. Steward’s passenger was also injured as a result of her conduct.

Ms. Steward pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree murder and two counts of criminal vehicular operation.

“Our thoughts are with Rose and Esther’s families, as well as the wider community that feels their loss every day. The outpouring of love for both of them illustrates how much they meant to the people who knew them,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “Ms. Steward narrowly avoided multiple collisions before striking Rose and Esther’s vehicle and, as a result of the impact, collided with a bus stop, injuring a teenager. Today’s plea ensures Ms. Steward is held accountable and the community is protected from additional harm.”

Ms. Steward entered a “straight plea” to all counts without a negotiated sentence. The exact length of her sentence will be argued at the sentencing hearing with the final decision being made by the Court.

The sentencing hearing is currently scheduled for April 17 at 1 p.m.
